Tony Pasin MP hosts ‘Smart Farm’ grant information session
The Federal Government has launched its new $134 million Smart Farm grants through the next phase of the $1 billion National Landcare Program.
Member for Barker Tony Pasin is encouraging all those interested in applying for a grant to attend an information session being held in Keith next week.
This phase of the program has two grant opportunities now open for applications.
‘Smart Farming Partnerships’ provide grants of between $250,000 and $4 million to groups to put in place new and innovative sustainable land management practices, which protect and improve the condition of soils, vegetation and biodiversity. Applications for Smart Farming Partnerships opened on the 19 October and close 21 December 2017.
The $50 million ‘Smart Farms’ Small Grants program offer grants between $5,000 and $100,000 to develop and extend new tools, methods and technology for farmers to continue to be at the forefront of innovative land management. Applications for the Small Grants opened on 24 October and close 7 December 2017.
Tony Pasin and staff from the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources will be on hand to provide information and answer any questions about the grant opportunities. “Our landholders value what the National Landcare Program has brought to the table since it started in 1989,” said Mr Pasin.“Numerous locals have taken the opportunity to get involved in Landcare over the years and now we have extended the opportunity for more farmers and community groups to apply for grants that will help develop the next generation of smart farms.”
