Smart Farms Small Grants – round 4 now open

Round 4 of the Smart Farms Small Grants program are now open. Under this round, the Australian Government has made grants of between $5,000 and $100,000 available to support one to two-year projects that will help farming, forestry and fishing groups and communities increase their awareness, knowledge, skills and capacity to adopt smart and sustainable agriculture practices.

Through the $43.5 million Smart Farms Smalls Grants program, the Government aims to help make our agriculture, fishing, aquaculture and forestry industries more sustainable, productive and profitable.

The Government is working to achieve this by funding organisations and inviduals to carry out sustainable agriculture projects, and by supporting projects that build the capacity and capability of our farmers, fishers, foresters, and broader communities, to adopt best practice natural resource management methods and practices.

Through these projects, we are working not only to increase the production and profitability of our businesses, but also to protect and improve the condition of our natural resources, especially soils and vegetation, which will assist in protecting Australia’s biodiversity and benefit our businesses in the long run.

Organisations and individuals can apply for Smart Farm Small Grants to fund projects that promote and deliver adoption of best practice sustainable land management. Applicants may also apply for projects that strengthen the capacity of Landcare groups and others to build their capability to adopt best practices. Projects can be delivered locally, regionally and multi-regionally.
