Win One of Six Drones – Subscribe to the new ‘GrowNotes Alert’ App

GIMAF and Agriculture Victoria, together with support from Grain Producers Australia and Plant Health Australia would like to offer farmer members of your organisation the opportunity to go into a draw to win one of six drones which have been developed for use as a tool to monitor crops.

GIMAF has has partnered with Agriculture Victoria in undertaking the surveillance project as a follow on  from the GRDC funded GrowNotesAlert program. The project is also being supported by the Grains Biosecurity Officers (GBO’s) located in Southern NSW, Victoria and South Australia.

The aim of this project is to improve grains industry surveillance in the main grain growing states of Australia by increasing the use of the free GrowNotesAlert reporting tools in these states. To this end, the key output from the proposed project is to broaden the level of awareness and adoption by farmers and/or their advisors of the GrowNotesAlert app in the grain growing states in south-eastern Australia through an initial ‘pilot” program, to be undertaken between September and December 2016.

The purpose of the ‘pilot’ program is:
* to establish the utility of the GrowNotesAlert app when applied to crops and pests in south-eastern;
* to identify what barriers may exist to the broader adoption of the GrowNotesAlert nationally;
* to establish what infrastructure is required to support the broad adoption of the Australia, and
* to establish the utility of the information reported in supporting Australia’s biosecurity and market access status in relation to overseas markets.

Representatives are available to attend Grower Group events to present the GIMAF project and discuss the benefits of farmers adopting the GrowNotesAlert App. as a tool for monitoring on-farm pests.
