Regional Soils Coordinator sought for SA Drought Hub

An exciting opportunity to play a key role in building farm resilience through a focus on soil management has arisen through the SA Drought Hub.

The Hub is seeking to appoint a full-time Regional Soils Coordinator, to be employed through the University of Adelaide.

The Soils Coordinator will work with regional soil service providers to develop a plan which identifies regional soil issues, activities and capabilities, barriers to adoption, and opportunities to collaborate to deliver more integrated and targeted soils services to farmers and regional farming communities.

The role involves promoting the value of soil health, best management practices, project outcomes and achievements, relevant information and technologies, and opportunities with relevant programs and initiatives.

Selection criteria includes:

  • demonstrated experience in managing and delivering agricultural and/or environmental projects and/or extension activities
  • understanding of regional soil issues, and the ability to work innovatively with farming communities to address them
  • demonstrated experience in creating or managing regional networks with key organisations delivering soil services
