Lower Eyre Peninsula Expo
More than 80 people attended the annual Lower Eyre Peninsula Expo held on Thursday the 21st of March. Farmers made up 75% of the audience.
Held at the Ungarra Sports Complex, the program consisted of a half-day event this year.
Participants enjoyed an excellent breakfast courtesy of the Eyre United Netball Club prior to hearing a packed program of topical presentations from banking, agri-business and PIRSA SA representatives.
Subjects covered by the speakers included global markets, results of trials conducted in 2012, issues with micro nutrient management that are emerging with changing farmer practices and advances in soil amelioration techniques.
The static display of soil conditioning machinery created much interest and stimulated animated discussions to the extent that there was a strong push for on- the-spot paddock demonstrations. If some of the audience had got their way the Ungarra oval would have been ripped, delved and spaded.
The morning concluded with a magnificent lunch again supplied by members of the Eyre United Netball Club.
