GPSA to host pre-election forums in regional electorates

Key grain and community issues will be front and centre at three candidate pre-election forums being held by Grain Producers SA (GPSA).

GPSA have today announced free, public regional pre-election forums will be held in Cummins on the Eyre Peninsula (February 28), Loxton in the Riverland (2 March) and Maitland on the Yorke Peninsula (8 March) focused on issues that matter to grain growers and their communities.

GPSA Chief Executive Officer Brad Perry said it is important for grain growers and their communities to have the opportunity to ask questions and engage with candidates before they cast their vote at the State Election on 19 March.

“GPSA is incredibly excited to give farming communities the opportunity to ask their local candidates about issues important to them,” Mr Perry said.

“There is a diversity of candidates in the seats of Flinders, Chaffey and Narungga and the audience will have the opportunity to consider their views on a variety of topics.

“The upcoming State Election comes at a critical time for the grain industry as farmers face challenges through supply chain disruptions, market access changes, sustainability benchmarking and a variable climate.

“The forums will also enable growers to explore candidates’ positions on grain policy matters such as investment in research, innovation and infrastructure.

“The grain industry has the unique opportunity to define our own future as we continue on our way to achieving the SA Grain Industry Blueprint target of becoming a $6 billion industry by 2030 and at GPSA we believe it is important to provide these services for grain growers and their communities.”
