The latest Farm Gross Margin Guide for South Australia has been released by Ag Excellence Alliance with support from SAGIT and GRDC. The guide provides updated gross margin estimates for cropping and livestock enterprises, helping farmers compare enterprise options and make informed business decisions.

The Farm Gross Margin Guide is a highly valued resource that estimates the expected profitability of key broadacre cropping and livestock enterprises across South Australia using current input costs and commodity prices.

The 2026 guide also includes information on managing risk in farm business decisions and introduces guidance on measuring and managing on-farm carbon emissions, reflecting the growing role of carbon and climate considerations in modern farming systems.

The Excel-based version includes pre-loaded enterprise budgets that can be easily edited to reflect individual farm circumstances, allowing farmers to adjust assumptions and generate personalised gross margin estimates for their own operations.

The guide is unique in providing analysis for both cropping and livestock enterprises across South Australia’s diverse rainfall zones, making it a practical planning tool for farm businesses across the state.

The 2025 Livestock Gross Margin Guide is also available on the Ag Ex website. Download both guides here:
