Ag Excellence Forum & Awards – ‘A Climate of Opportunity in Ag’ is going VIRTUAL

Forum2021 will proceed in a virtual format on Monday 9 August 2021. The line-up of speakers will remain the same with a slightly modified program to deliver a more succinct event to an online audience.

Delegates will have the opportunity to hear a broad range of keynote speakers and panellists with interaction encouraged during corresponding Q&A sessions. The coveted PIRSA Grower Group and Ag Excellence Perpetual Award will also be announced.

Belinda Cay, Ag Communicators will guide the stellar lineup of speakers and facilitate the proceeding discussions.

Leet Wilksch, Ag Ex Chair welcomed Belinda’s enthusiasm to ‘go virtual’, “Belinda has a wealth of experience as a communicator, facilitator, and MC and is the ideal person to take Ag Ex to an online platform”.

Previously announced keynotes Professor Mark Howden, Fiona Simson, and Professor Richard Eckard will set the scene on the climate of agriculture, industry sustainability targets, C trading, and natural capital accounting.

Ag Ex also welcomes Dr Mark Farrell, CSIRO, and Dr Amanda Schapel, PIRSA in presenting on policy, practicalities, and benchmarking of soil carbon.

Simon Wallwork and Cindy Stephens, WA farmers and AgZero2030 representatives will talk about achieving carbon neutrality practically in a broadacre cropping system. Pannell Wines General Manager Tom Grant will join them on the farmer panel to explain how producers can use a pest to improve soil quality.

A number of industry experts will make up a trio of panels focussing on broadacre cropping, livestock and viticulture. These break-out sessions will run concurrently with the optional selection required on registration.

Penny Schulz, a local South Australian farmer and Premier’s Climate Change Council member will wrap up the forum and provide an insight into how our state is forging ahead to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adaption to climate change.
