Brome grass management in cereal crops

Branding Community Sourced

Dr Peter Boutsalis of Plant Science Consulting is conducting research on behalf of the University of Adelaide and GRDC on brome grass control in cereal crops in southern Australia. Brome grass is a major problem in cereal rotations, especially in no till farming systems. There are two species of brome, B. diandrus in higher rainfall areas and B. rigidus in lower rainfall areas. Extended periods of germination with limited post emergent herbicide control options in cereals are the issues being addressed by Dr Boutsalis’ research program.
