Ag Ex launches 2017-2022 Strategic Plan

The official launch of the Ag Excellence Strategic Plan for 2017-2022 attracted widespread commendation, reinforcing its valuable role in supporting the South Australian Grower Group network.

Despite inclement weather, Executive Officer, Mark Stanley welcomed an enthusiastic crowd  at the recent Eyre Peninsula Field Days in Cleve.

A number of industry partners both local and statewide joined dignitaries Adrian Pederick MP, Member for Hammond and Peter Treloar MP, local Member for Flinders for the informal gathering.

A recent survey conducted by Ag Excellence has resulted in a strong foundation to further understand the level of support needed by South Australian Grower Groups. The Plan’s goals closely correlate with these outcomes in the ultimate endeavour to positively contribute to the profitability and sustainability of farm businesses.

Feedback has shown that the Grains Research Development Corporation (GRDC) and State and National landcare organisations lead the charge in supporting our grain and livestock industries. Although there are also additional sources, “funding is by far the most significant challenge for all Grower Groups”, Mr Stanley said. “The security of our local representative bodies is at constant risk due to the uncertainty of our funding providers”.

Mr Stanley reinforced the integral role of Ag Excellence with all 16 respondent groups identifying Ag Ex as a primary advocate to funders in supporting development and delivery of collaborative projects.
